Finally got around to playing with iOnTV. Nice. I used to have MythTv a few month ago I picked up a mini and EyeTv (with the EyeTV hybrid+). It's Ok but I hate the interface. I would love a simple app (like IOnTV) to handle recording and use something like Plex for play back. The things I miss the most about MythTV is the searches you could do with MythWeb and commercial skipping.

So is this project still alive? Any releases on the horizon?

How's the development of this going? Any new releases?

I really want this app to work for me as I don't really want to pay $80 for eyeTv or SageTV when I don't care about watching live tv / DVR stuff. I just want to schedule recordings so they happen for those shows my Dish box can't get (too many conflicts in HD).

Hi,

I'm having great difficulty scanning for channels. What is the xml format, or a sample file look like, so that I can manually enter some channels and import them?

Thanks!

Thanks for creating this great piece of software. I've been using EyeTV for a while, but I've had two gripes.

1. Export to iTunes uses an encoder that takes forever and the finished product looks terrible compared to the original.
2. I don't want to remove the commercials manually. Many of the windows products strip out commercials using ComSkip

You've fixed problem 1, by using the handbrake encoder. However, any chance I can convince you to integrated ComSkip into a future version?

Thanks for all the hard work.

I can't seem to find a list of system requirements anywhere.

Like the first time I installed I didn't know I needed VLC since previously I used EyeTV and didn't need any other apps.

Anyone know the system requirements?

When I do A Channel Scan In The Activity Window I See All Channels Being Found And Such... But When It's Completed I Have Nothing In My Channels List. Any Ideas?

I Have MacBook Pro Dual Core 2 Duo, 3 Gig of Ram, 250 Gig 7200 Serial ATA HDD, and Mac OS 10.5.1 (Leopard).

VLC Is Installed and Running. I Have Found /Users/sdaniels/Library/Application Support/recsched/recsched_bkgd.dat, Which Appears To Be The Channel List, But If I Try To Import It iOnTV Wont Let Me.

One More Piece Of Information, My HDD Is Formated As Journaled Case Sensitive, Just Incase.

I successfully went through the setup/install procedure listed on the site here with no troubles. I'm able to see both tuners and I was able to do a complete scan. I matched up the channels to the SD listings. Everything populates as I would expect. But when I right click and select watch.. it opens up VLC but isn't able to show anything. When I select record the activity window shows a recording in process but the TS file created never has any data in it. It is always empty even if I left the recording continue to completion.

Hi,
First off, this application looks great.
I have gotten the app to install, but it cannot find my hdhomerun tuner.
My computer is on the same small wired network, and I can ping the hdhomerun.
I am running leopard, and i have explicitly set iOnTV in the firewall to "allow incoming connections".
what else should i try?
thanks.

What is the difference between the tuner callsign (user editable) and the listing callsign (pulldown selection from lineup)?

All I can figure is, when the latter can't be figured out or isn't available in the pulldown, you can still put in some info in the former to identify.

BTW, the main schedule GUI won't scroll with the mouse scroll wheel.

Thanks. Nice alpha/beta app so far.

It would be very nice if importing the xml file with the channel tags wouldn't overwrite the channel list (that's what the warning is now when you import), but instead just overlay the IDs from the file onto the channels without deleting any. That way, if a new scan finds more channels, we can still use the old xml file to fill in most of the info. Thanks.

Cable QAM scan only covers a very small subset. I got all the 95.x (mostly music) and 74.1 (an HD station) but nothing else. I know from my EyeTV 2.5.1 scan that I should have dozens more all the way up to 119.x for Comcast Digital (Cupertino; zip 95014). I am missing all of the free to air HD stations except for KICU, the only one that was found.
